CHARLOTTE, N.C. --She's donated more than $75,000 to about a dozen different Charlotte causes, and she uses her art to make it happen.

Local artist Anne Neilson spent Wednesday getting a gallery space ready in Dilworth for her next showing.  This time she'll give 50 percent of her profits to Presbyterian Hospital's hospice program.

Neilson has previously given money to non-profits helping children and the homeless.

Her paintings are popular with art collectors, and even Oprah Winfrey has one from the artist.

“It's just in my heart to give back to others. Ever since I started painting and selling my work I just decided that's what I'm going to do,” Neilson said.

If you'd like to see her work, the hospice fundraiser and showing starts Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Dilworth.
