CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Investigators say a fire that destroyed a home near Myers Park Country Club early Friday morning was intentionally set.
Crews were called to the scene on Sharon Road and Westminster Place at about 1:30 a.m.
By the time firefighters arrived at the home it was fully engulfed in flames on both levels of the two-story home. Firefighters say the stairs had burned away as well as the floor. They were forced to place ladders in different places around the home just to get inside.
The fire department did not release information on the cause, but said the fire was intentionally set. It caused $250,000 in damage.
Firefighters say that the home was undergoing renovations and that no one was living there.
