CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Some neighbors in Dilworth are not thrilled with a plan to tear down five buildings at the corner of East Morehead Street and Kenilworth Avenue.

The idea is to replace them with a Walgreens convenience store.  On Wednesday night the community development association is meeting to talk about the plan.

Dilworth is the Charlotte neighborhood that blends history with modern times, so it comes as no surprise that some people are not welcoming a potential new resident with open arms.

Along with the Walgreens are plans for a drive-thru pharmacy and an office building.

But to do so requires knocking down buildings, including an 18-unit apartment building that was built in the 1920's as well as four homes.

Neighbors are worried about increased traffic and noise as the proposed pharmacy may stay open 24 hours a day.

A formal plan has not been submitted with the city just yet because officials from Walgreens want to talk to neighbors about the concerns.
