GASTONIA, N.C. -- People angry over the killing of dozens of geese in a Gaston County Park aren’t backing down.
They gathered Thursday night at the County Commissioners meeting armed with a petition and demanding answers.
Organizers say they’ve gathered 4,000 signatures from people who want to know why the birds were euthanized.
“In talking with so many citizens, they are really passionate about this and want it to never happen again, or in any other place for that matter,” one demonstrator said.
The Parks and Recreation director says the birds were euthanized because of complaints from the public.
The Carolina Waterfowl Rescue says they were in the process of removing the geese and simply needed more time.
