GASTONIA, N.C. -- Emergency first responders were called to a scene where a car had driven off an embankment and into the woods.
The Gastonia Fire Department and Gaston EMS arrived on the scene in the area of South Weldon Street and West Garrison Boulevard, after a passerby noticed the car off in the woods.
Authorities say by the time they arrived on the scene, the driver of the wrecked vehicle, a man in his 20s, was already out of the car.
The driver was placed onto a backboard, then slid up the steep embankment, where he was loaded into an ambulance and taken to the hospital for observation. No further information on the driver was made available.
The Gastonia Police Department is investigating the wreck.
