GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- Dozens of emergency workers were on the scene of a traffic accident involving a jackknifed 18-wheeler and at least four other vehicles on Monday afternoon.
The southbound lanes of Highway 321 near C. Grier Beam Boulevard, just after the Cherryville exit, in Gaston County were closed for several hours.
Gaston County EMS says a total of five people were transported to the hospital. One patient officials say is emergency, the other four are described as non-emergency.
Motorists were diverted by exiting at C. Grier Beam Boulevard, heading down the off ramp, under Highway 321, and back up the on-ramp to re-access 321.
