GASTON COUNTY, N.C. – A volunteer firefighter is recovering after being shot with his own weapon.
According to Lloyd Moskowitz, the director for Gaston County 911 Communications, a volunteer firefighter accidentally shot himself in the leg.
Reportedly the incident happened at the Hugh’s Pond Fire Department on Monday. NewsChannel 36 has learned the weapon was in his pocket when it discharged.
The unidentified firefighter was taken to Cleveland Regional Hospital. No word yet on the extent of their injuries.
