GASTONIA, N.C. -- Some customers at a Gastonia gas station have given new meaning to the concept of self serve.

Police say a group of guys rigged the pumps at the Union Road Citgo and have been stealing gas--3700 gallons worth. That's more than $12,000 worth-- and, officials say they helped their friends fill their tanks.

The whole thing wass caught on surveillance video.

The owner says it went on for six weeks-- that people would pull up, fill up, but didn't have to pay up.

“They were filing up gas for people who were bringing their trucks in, they were taking money from them so they were actually selling gas on our pumps," an employee said.

The station lost so much money, now, the employees are paying the price.

“We are cutting hours for our people trying to make money... We are getting our hours cut, even employees were getting hurt by this.”

If you have any information, call Gastonia Crime Stoppers at 704-866-6884.
