GASTONIA, N.C. -- The tornados and storms of April have passed, but the devastation continues to impact families throughout the Southeast.
Many homes, towns, schools, businesses and communities were destroyed and the people left behind are picking up the pieces of their lives.
The Gaston County Firefighters Association is organizing a disaster relief program to help the victims from now through June 3. The association is collecting items such as non-perishable food, diapers, wipes, deodorant, shaving cream, razors, toothpaste, tooth brushes, mouth wash, hand soap and school supplies.
Residents can drop off any of these items at any Gaston County Fire Department as well as any city of Gastonia Fire Station.
Checks should be made out to The Gaston County Firefighters Association and mailed to P.O. Box 433 Dallas, NC 28034.
