GASTONIA, N.C. -- A Gastonia man is behind bars after police say he attempted to make off with a police cruiser early Wednesday morning.
Jason Eric Tate, 39, is charged with felony breaking and entering in to a motor vehicle, resisting a public officer and felony attempted larceny.
Gastonia Police were responding to a call in the parking lot of Leather and Lace, located in the 500 block of West Main Street, when officers reported that Tate attempted to steal a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria Patrol car.
According to the official documents, Tate also resisted arrest.
Tate's bonds total $40,000.
