GASTONIA, N.C. – Gastonia police are asking for the public’s help in finding the man who threatened to kill a store clerk while robbing a convenience store last month.

According to the Gastonia Police Department, the man was caught on tape robbing the Kingsway convenience store at 1105 Bessemer City Road on January 5.

Police say a black man walked into the store at 7:24 p.m. and “threatened to blow the store clerk’s head off if she didn’t hand over the money,” the report states.

“No gun was seen, but the suspect kept his hand close to his body like he had one. The clerk complied, the suspect fled, and no one was injured.”

The suspect had a beard, medium complexion and is about five-foot-eight, 180 pounds.  The man wore a yellow T-shirt and possibly had a gold tooth.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest, and if you can help identify the robber you are asked to call them at 704-861-8000 or GPD at 704-866-6880.
