GASTONIA, N.C. -- Gastonia police are trying to identify a man and a woman suspected in recent larceny and fraud cases at areas businesses.
Police said the crimes first began on Aug. 11. In that case, police said a woman was shopping at the Wal-Mart on North Myrtle School Road when her purse was stolen from her shopping cart. Authorities say someone then tried to use the woman’s stolen credit card at a Walgreen’s on West Franklin Boulevard.
In another case, police said a second woman was shopping at the K-mart on East Franklin when a man approached her to ask a question. Police said another women then stole a credit card from the victim’s pocketbook. The suspect then allegedly bought gift cards at a nearby Lowe’s using the stolen credit card.
On Thursday, police released surveillance photos of the suspects. In the photos, the female suspect is seen wearing a sleeveless blue and white shirt and what appear to be white shorts, and has curly, black hair. The male suspect is seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. Both suspects in the photos are dark-skinned.
