GASTONIA, N.C. – A Gaston County man is behind bars after shooting another man in the knee cap.
According to Sgt. Mike Lari of the Gastonia Police department, 23 year old Austin Spurling is behind bars after shooting Derrick Patton with a snub nose chrome pistol.
It’s unclear why Spurling fired the shot, NewsChannel 36 has learned he was arrested Saturday morning.
He’s being charged with assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon. He’s under a $100,000.00 secured bond.
Spurling is no stranger to the Gaston County Jail, he’s been arrested multiple times including charges for breaking and entering in 2010 and he’s faced a larceny charged in 2008.
