GASTONIA, N.C. -- A man used a note to demand money from a Gastonia bank teller, according to police.
It happened around 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Bank of American in the 300 block of New Hope Road.
Investigators say a man passed the note to the teller. The man said he needed the money for his kids, who had been kidnapped.
The suspect then fled on foot. No money was taken from the bank, and no one was injured.
Police caught up to Jorge Manuel Ortiz Zarco, 20, in Lowell. He then admitted there was no kidnapping involved, according to police.
Zarco is charged with robbery.
