GASTONIA, N.C. – The remains of a man who had gone missing more than five years ago were found in Gastonia earlier this month.
The Gastonia Police Department announced Thursday the skeletal remains of Jeffrey Brooks Willette were found in a wooded area off of Rankin Lake Road near the Kangaroo Express on North Chester Street on January 7.
The remains were found by a person collecting aluminum cans.
Willette was reported missing on July 19, 2006 by family members in Providence, North Carolina, and had not been seen or heard from since that day. He was 45 years old when he went missing.
An autopsy revealing the cause of Willette’s death has not been released.
