GASTONIA, N.C. (AP) -- A woman has pleaded to involuntary manslaughter after she killed a man on a Gaston County road four years ago.
Forty-nine-year-old Charla Dean Davis entered an Alford plea Thursday for the death of Ronnie Eudy. An Alford plea does not admit guilt, but concedes there's enough evidence for a guilty verdict.
Davis had been convicted of second-degree murder in 2010 but the North Carolina Court of Appeals overturned the decision.
Eudy had stopped on a bridge on U.S. 74 in Belmont in March 2008 to help a driver to had suffered a seizure.
Prosecutors say Davis drove away after she hit Eudy. She turned herself into police the next day.
She was sentenced Thursday to at least two years in prison. Her original sentence had been at least 26 years.
