LINCOLNTON, N.C. – The Lincolnton Police Department arrested a man they believed robbed a store clerk at knife point.

The incident happened Monday at the Little Market Basket in Lincolnton.  According to law enforcement, the suspect bought a drink and left the store.  He then returned and asked the clerk for a couple hundred dollars; when the clerk responded she didn’t have any funds to give, the man whipped out a knife forcing the clerk to hand over the cash register drawer.

A patrol officer later found a man matching the description who was also carrying a knife similar to the one used to threaten the cashier. The clerk from the Little Market Basket was able to identify the man and confirmed to police he had robbed the store. Police arrested Bruce Lee Strickland after he was found walking the streets.

Strickland is currently being held under a $15,000 bond.  He’s being charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.
