LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Two North Carolina men were arrested Tuesday after a drug sniffing dog found illegal drugs during a traffic stop.
Matthew Dale Leonard, 25, of Gastonia and Bengy Eric Heavner, 48, of Bessemer City were arrested on Highway 321 near exit 24 after a K-9 unit sniffed the vehicle and found a half-pound of marijuana as well as $1,300 in cash.
Lincolnton County Sheriff’s Office deputies searched the car after a traffic violation. Both men are charged with one felony count each of possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy.
The two men are due in court Wednesday and remain behind bars on a $10,000 bond.
