LINCOLNTON, N.C. -- A rash of vehicle break-ins has ended in an arrest following the discovery of stolen ID and credit cards in a trash can.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office arrested 23-year-old Allen Waters. Waters is facing 35 charges related to the car burglaries in several subdivisions in the Highway 150 East area of Lincolnton that occurred between October 21 and November 17.

Authorities say the break in the case came when the ID and credit cards were found in the trash at his girlfriends home on Mansion Drive. Detectives were then able to positively identify Waters from surveillance footage at one of the victim's homes.

Among the recovered items are two laptops, three cellphones, a camera, iPod, multiple identification cards and credit cards.

Waters is held in the Harven A Crouse Detention Center on a $15,000 bond.
