LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Police have arrested a Lincolnton woman for allegedly stealing jewelry from her mother for more than a year.

Kara Ilien Carpenter, 27, was arrested and charged with felony larceny, felony possession of stolen goods and felony obtaining property by false pretenses.

According to police, Carpenter stole the jewelry and sold it at a pawn shop in Denver.  Carpenter’s mother first notified police of the missing jewelry and an investigation began.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives say Carpenter admitted taking the jewelry in a statement to police.

Assay Gold pawn store in Denver told police it had done jewelry business with Carpenter and had paid her at least $7,500 for the merchandise.

Carpenter is in jail under a $10,000 secured bond.
