MATTHEWS, N.C. -- One man is in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash involving a stolen truck in Matthews early Wednesday morning.

Matthews police said 57-year-old Robert Howard Keziah was hurt when his small white Mazda truck flipped after hitting a F-250 truck on Idlewild Road near Matthews-Pineville Road around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Emergency crews had to rescue Keziah from the truck after being trapped for several minutes.

The F-250 was stolen by the driver, and he jumped and ran from the truck after the accident.  The truck was one of several from a Charlotte home that had been broken into, and other stolen property was found in the vehicle as well.

Police reopened Idlewild Road around 7:30 a.m. after crews cleared the scene.
