Storm causes power outages in Matthews

MATTHEWS, N.C. – Nearly 700 families in Matthews were left in the dark Wednesday morning.

Union Power Cooperative said 697 homes didn't have power at 7 a.m.

Most of outages were at homes from Independence at Sam Newell Road to the Pine Lake Country Club along Lebanon Road.

Outages from the storm were limited in Charlotte.  Just 35 homes were without power in Mecklenburg County, according to Duke Energy, as of 7 a.m.
