MATTHEWS, N.C. -- Two people in Matthews have been cited for running illegal gambling machines.

Matthews police said they'd gotten complaints about poker machines at Froggers, a consignment shop on West John Street. Tuesday morning, officers searched the business and found four illegal poker machines, as well as some cash.

Janet Malone, 39, and Jeffrey Peele, 43, have been cited.

In North Carolina, it's illegal to operate, allow to operate or possess a video gambling machine, excluding sweepstakes.
