CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The historic Elizabeth 8K Road Race presented by Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital and Hawthorne's Pizza will take place on April 9.
This is the 25th annual edition, making it the oldest 8K race in Charlotte.
Participants will enjoy event T‐shirts, post‐race refreshments, beverages, music, and overall and age group awards.
Proceeds benefit the beautification of the Historic Elizabeth Neighborhood as well as Presbyterian Hemby Children’s Hospital. The race is the largest fundraiser for the Elizabeth Community Association, and last year's event raised more than $15,000.
The event begins at 8 a.m. at Hawthorne Recreation Center and follows a scenic course through the residential streets of the Elizabeth neighborhood. The race finishes on Park Drive, and post‐race refreshments and activities take place in Independence Park.
In addition to a competitive 8K timed race, the day will also feature an untimed 3K run/walk and a Liz Kids Fun Run for the youngest participants. To add to the festive atmosphere, an Elvis impersonator will also make an appearance.
