CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The car thief that targeted areas in Charlotte was arrested Monday.
Maurice Redmond was arrested after police found him sleeping inside a stolen Lincoln Continental in the Hickory Grove Division.
A concerned citizen called the police to report a suspicious vehicle that had been sitting on her street for about an hour.
Redmond lied about his identity at the time of his arrest.
CMPD found he had 18 outstanding warrants, 17 of which were related to auto theft. The other was from a probation violation.
The vehicle he was in was stolen on June 15, around 7p.m. from a Circle K gas station on Plaza Road. The car’s owner had left the keys in the ignition while he went into the store when it was stolen.
Redmond is currently being held at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
