CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The city of Charlotte announced Monday it's selling the historic Johnston and Mecklenburg Mills buildings in the NoDa neighborhood.
City leaders hope a buyer will come in and redevelop the mills into affordable housing.
This project has been going on for years. The city bought Johnston and Mecklenburg Mills in 2006 after a long history of rehabilitation efforts.
The properties will be sold as one to the highest bidder later this month.
