CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- More than 800 sandwiches will be delivered to Urban Ministry on Wednesday, thanks to an all-day project at a Charlotte elementary school.

The first, second and third-graders at Chantilly Montessori participated in Operation Sandwich.

Some made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, others made ham and turkey, and each did it with their own unique flair.

Perhaps most important – the lesson they learned.

“That we are all a community and we are all neighbors,” one said.

“We have something to be thankful for because those homeless people now can have food for Thanksgiving,” said another.
