CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte's historic Memorial Stadium has closed so an engineering firm can study the condition of the 75-year-old facility and determine what, if any, repairs may be needed.
Mecklenburg County is now searching for an engineering firm to check the seating areas to make sure they're safe.
A section of seats was closed and repaired last year after an underground drainage system collapsed.
County officials say the structural assessment could take up to six weeks.
The Park and Recreation Department is working to accommodate groups that have booked events at the stadium.
