CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Harris Teeter grocery store in Plaza Midwood is one step closer to getting a major overhaul.
A rezoning petition was filed Monday for the store on Central Avenue and The Plaza.
The plans call for the existing store to be demolished and replaced by a new, 49,500 square-foot, two-story facility.
If the plans are approved, demolition would take place in June or July 2012 and construction would be completed in about six months.
