CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Chantilly Neighborhood Association is warning residents to stay away from raccoons.
A resident's dogs had to be euthanized after fighting with a raccoon that tested positive for rabies.
The dogs were not up to date on their rabies shots, according to announcement made by the neighborhood association.
A free rabies clinic is provided by the county on the second Saturday of every month. For more information, visit http://www.charmeck.org/Departments/Animal+Control/Rabies+Clinics.htm
Animal control says residents who see raccoons in the daytime should call 311.
