ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Cecil Gilmore is a Rock Hill mortician who will pose you dead as you were in life.
Gilmore Mortuary offers funerals for a small cost. He says that people just can’t afford to bury loved ones because so many people are out of work.
You don’t have to be over the hill to appreciate Cecil’s take on death. Cecil says it is a combination of formaldehyde and flair at a reasonable price in a deadly economy.
Gilmore only props the bodies with the consent of the family.
“It doesn’t cost you anything extra,” he said.
One of Gilmore’s unique jobs was remembering a man who passed away in Atlanta.
“Once he passed, he wanted to be remembered for basketball. So we sat him up, posed his arm...and put a ball in it and had him looking at a TV screen on the wall,” Gilmore said.
