YORK COUNTY, S.C. -- An off-duty York Police officer was injured on Tuesday when a boat he was working on with a friend fell on top of him.

York Police Chief Andy Robinson says Officer Lee McClellan will undergo surgery at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte on Tuesday night.

The falling boat pinned McClellan underneath it. Chief Robinson says McClellan's injuries are serious.

McClellan is new to the York Police Department, having only been with the force for three months.
