LANCASTER, S.C. -- A Lancaster man is facing several charges after allegedly spitting in an officer's face.
Lancaster police say an officer stopped 42-year-old Mark Barrett on Friday for speeding on Arch Street.
Barrett was arrested after the officer found that he was driving with a suspended license.
According to a police report, Barrett initially refused arrest and yelled at the officer, saying, "I should spit in your face."
When the officer booked Barrett and placed him in a jail cell, the report says Barrett motioned as if he were going to hit the officer and then spit in his face.
Barrett is charged with throwing bodily fluids on a correctional officer, speeding, disorderly conduct, driving with a suspended license and failure to surrender a driver's license. He was released from jail on $12,000 bond.
