KERSHAW, S.C. – Two people are behind bars after allegedly robbing a bank at gunpoint in broad daylight on Thursday in Lancaster County.

The armed robbery took place around 1 p.m. at the Williams Financial bank at 123 East Richland Street in Kershaw.

Aaron Donaldson, 19, of Rock Hill entered the bank with a handgun and demanded money, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.  After getting an unidentified amount of cash, deputies say he ran to the parking lot and got into a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Rebecca Outen Cauthen of Kershaw.

About three hours later, deputies say they identified Cauthen and Donaldson as the suspects and located both of them.

“Investigators were able to recover some of the money stolen from the business when Cauthen and Donaldson were located,” the department said in a statement.  “We are extremely pleased that we were able to get these suspects identified and arrested so quickly.  Donaldson is on probation for burglary, therefore giving us another example of the problems repeat offenders cause our county.”

No one was hurt during the bank robbery.

Both Donaldson and Cauthen were charged with armed robbery, and Donaldson was also charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.  Both are awaiting a bond hearing in the Lancaster County Detention Center.
