ROCK HILL, S.C. – A Rock Hill woman was arrested because police say she has been neglecting her bedridden 40-year-old fiancée.
Crystal Perdue, 34, was charged with neglect of a vulnerable adult after a York County Department of Social Services investigation that began on May 25 found 40-year-old Jonathan Earle in poor condition at a home off Greenbriar Avenue.
Earle remains in the intensive care unit at Piedmont Medical Center suffering from hydration, infection, breakdown of the skin and poor hygiene.
Police said Earle is blind with multiple sclerosis and was also a diabetic and had an extremely high sugar count.
“His body is covered in ulcers and roach/insect bites. His catheter was so dirty that it was growing mold,” the police report stated. “His hair was so dirty that it had developed crust. He was severely malnourished. He was brought into the hospital due to lack of appetite and nausea.”
