YORK, S.C. – York County Councilman Eric Winstead announced his resignation late Saturday night.
Winstead’s office sent a letter to news media announcing the decision, here is the statement sent to NewsChannel 36:
“It’s with great sadness and regret that I resign(from) my York County Council district three seat due to medical reasons that need immediate attention.
It has been my honor and a privilege to have the support my family, the people of district three and my peers on the council. I truly enjoyed my time as your district three representative.
As your council member, I always tried to do what is best for the people of district three and York County.
I ask for your prayers for my family and me. And (I) ask that we have some privacy so that we can focus on the matters at hand immediately.
We are going to plan a press conference in the very near future and all parties will be notified, so that everyone can ask their questions and we can have a final resolution to this story.”
