ROCK HILL, S.C. -- A York Preparatory Academy school board member was arrested for child pornography, according to the York County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies arrested Timothy Frank Ruzbacki at his home Monday evening and charged him with third-degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
The York Prep Board of Directors voted unanimously Tuesday night to suspend Ruzbacki from his position until the York County Sheriff's Office completes its investigation.
Investigators obtained search warrants on Ruzbacki after getting a tip from another agency suspecting Ruzbacki was in possession of child porn.
After further investigation, detectives found Ruzbacki was in possession of images of children engaging in sexual acts on his computer.
The YPA Board members said Ruzbacki passed a background check before he joined the board. They claimed to have no knowledge of the investigation before the arrest.
According to the school's website, Ruzbacki's wife is a teacher at YPA. Two of his five children also go to school there.
The South Carolina Attorney General’s office, The South Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, North Carolina Bureau of Investigations and the Rock Hill Police Department assisted the York County Sheriff’s Office on the investigation of Ruzbacki.
A total of 10 charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Child were expected to be made against Ruzbacki, who bonded out of jail just after midnight.
