CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A popular Fuel pizza restaurant in South End had to shut down temporarily after a car slammed into the building Saturday.
Customers at the Fuel pizza on the corner of East Boulevard and South Boulevard said they were enjoying a meal with friends when they heard a loud crash. Paint and plaster began falling on them.
When they rushed outside, they saw a car had crashed into the wall on the other side from where they had been sitting.
It also crashed through a side patio and a trash can before it hit the wall. Workers cleared everyone out of the restaurant, but many people had already run for the door.
MEDIC transported three people to the hospital – two with minor injuries and one with potentially life-threatening injuries.
Police have not given a cause for the accident, and witnesses inside the restaurant couldn’t see the car before it crashed.
