CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Last year, the building which housed Crossfit SouthEnd was an empty small factory building. Now it's another small business, one where many residents of this part of town go to get in shape.

"This is what this area is all about—the 28208," said Stuart Brueur, who started the Gym, complete with its weights and huge truck tires "This area is growing and people are moving here."

Brueur said that he was doing boot camps with young professionals wanting to stay in shape when he realized that a large number of them lived in or near Charlotte's South End neighborhood. So he decided to open a gym.

"It just made sense." he said.

This is not the only new venture in this section of Charlotte, which has seen an array of new companies open their doors for business. Florida based World of Beer opened for business Monday afternoon. The Business serves only beer—more than 560 bottles of beer and 60 taps of imported and domestic beer.

General Manager Brandon Huskins said that when the company owners looked for a place to locate their fifth store, the South End topped the list.

"It's got a great mix of professionals and people who would love craft beer,” Huskins added.
