CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A construction project may cause trouble for Charlotteans looking to use the light rail this weekend.
The project began the weekend of February 23, and will continue on the weekends through March 17.
On those weekends, the Lynx Blue line will only operate from the I-485/South Boulevard Station to the Scaleybark Station.
The CATS bus service will be the only transportation services available north of the Scaleybark Station, between the New Bern Station and the CTC/Arena Station.
The Seventh Street Station will not be served at all.
Subject to weather, officials say the schedule changes will be in effect the weekends of March 9 through 10 and March 16 and 17.
Construction crews are installing a vehicular grade crossing to connect Poindexter Drive to South Boulevard and Youngblood Avenue.
Authorities say closed light rail stations will have signage directing riders to the nearest bus stop. CATS will be using existing bus stops for this service. Just look for the bus stop that reads "LYNX Connector."
The LYNX Connector is designed to operate with limited stops between the LYNX Blue Line stations that are temporarily closed and Uptown.
