CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Emergency crews said a man died after falling off a roof at a construction site in northeast Charlotte on Wednesday morning.
The incident happened on Claude Freeman Drive just after 8 a.m. at the Pike Energy Solutions building, according to emergency crews.
Simon Roofing and Sheet Metal Corporation were working on the building, which is three stories high. A garbage chute that was on top of the building connecting to a dumpster somehow fell, and the man fell with it, landing into the dumpster.
CMPD detectives were on the roof late Wednesday morning taking pictures and investigating the scene. Fencing around the roof was knocked down during the incident as well.
The name of the victim has not been released at this time.
