CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Fire officials determined a vacant home in the University City area was intentionally set on fire early Thursday morning.

The Charlotte Fire Department was called to a vacant home off of Mallard Crossing Drive at Harris Houston Road around 5 a.m. Thursday.

Officials said they were able to get the fire under control quickly. Most of the damage to the home was to the front porch.

Officials found a gas can near the home while conducting their investigation Thursday morning.

Two cars were discovered in the home of the house. Police told NewsChannel 36 that one of those cars was reported stolen.

If anyone has information on this incident they're asked to call Crime Stoppers at  704-334-1600.
