CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Junior forward K.J. Sherrill is transferring from the UNC Charlotte basketball program, the second player to do so this offseason.
Coach Alan Major says "KJ wants to explore his options elsewhere" and that "we wish him only the best as he finds a place to finish out his career and complete his education."
Sherrill averaged 2.8 points and 1.4 rebounds in 13.1 minutes for the 49ers, this past season. He played in 25 of the 49ers 30 games, making three starts.
Sherrill says he's enjoyed his time at Charlotte, "but I think it's in my best interest to move on" and "I'll miss my teammates but I look forward to finding a better fit for myself."
Last month senior point guard Deuce Briscoe announced he was also transferring.
