CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- New Year's Eve is a very busy night for folks in the Queen City and Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were out in full force, making sure everyone had a safe night. According to the CMPD, there were no major problems in uptown and in surrounding neighborhoods and arrests were down this year.
Police say 20 adults were arrested in uptown. Nine of those arrests were revelers intoxicated and being disruptive. That's compared to New Year's Eve 2011 when 31 adults total were arrested.
In terms of young people, CMPD says a total of six juveniles were arrested--four for curfew violations, two for trespassing. Last year, police arrested a total of 16 juveniles.
The number of arrests for New Year's Eve 2012 are from 6 p.m. Monday through 3 a.m. Tuesday.
