CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Utility crews reopened a busy uptown road that was closed after a water main break early Wednesday morning.

Crews reopened  West Trade Street around 1 p.m. after a 16-inch water main break forced the closure of the road between Mint and Poplar streets.

Carillon Tower was without water service but crews were able to restore water to the building around 8 a.m., according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities.

The main was broken during work on another construction project in the area.
