CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The weather was perfect Thursday for the kickoff celebration of what's being called an "outdoor living laboratory" at First Ward Creative Arts Academy.
Several old buildings are about to be demolished at the school in uptown Charlotte.
In its place, students will get a new running track and a Sense and Science Garden. It will include an outdoor classroom, a bird and butterfly habitat and a vegetable garden.
The project will cost about $300,000. It will take support from the community to make it a reality.
