WAXHAW, N.C. -- A Union County teen has been charged in connection with a head-on crash that killed his younger brother earlier this month, the N.C. Highway Patrol says.
Troopers have charged Alexander Pappa, 17, with misdemeanor death by vehicle. He was driving a car that went across the center line of New Town Road on the afternoon of May 17 and collided with a van.
Paulo Pappa, 14, a passenger in the car, was killed. Troopers say the car slid sideways and was struck on the passenger side by the van.
In the accident report, troopers said Alexander Pappa was not speeding but was driving too fast for road conditions. Rain was falling at the time of the wreck.
The two brothers had just left school at Cuthbertson High School in Waxhaw.
