November streaming calendar: 'Gilmore Girls,' 'The Crown,' 'The Grand Tour'

November highlights from major streaming and cable on-demand services:

Nov. 4

The Crown (Netflix). This 10-episode drama tells the story of the ascension of Queen Elizabeth II (Claire Foy) to the British throne following the death of her father, King George VI (Jared Harris) and its effect on her marriage to Prince Philip (Matt Smith).

Nov. 7

Deep Water (Acorn). Season 5 of Orange Is the New Black is still more than six months away, but you can catch Yael Stone, who plays Lorna Morello, as a detective in her native Australia investigating a young man's murder near the famed Bondi Beach.

Nov. 8

Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going To Clean Up This (Expletive)? (Showtime/Amazon). The title pretty much says it all, really.

Nov. 11

Underfire: The Untold Story of PFC Tony Vaccaro (HBO Now/Go). This World War II documentary follows a frontline infantry soldier who took his camera into battle.

Red Oaks (Amazon). Jennifer Grey, Richard Kind and Paul Reiser return for a second season of this comedy about an NYU student (Craig Roberts) who spends his 1980s summers working as a tennis pro at a country club.

Nov. 14

Close to the Enemy (Acorn). Before he can leave the British army at the end of World War II, an intelligence officer (Jim Sturgess) must convince a captured German scientist (August Diehl,Inglourious Basterds) to cooperate with his government.

Nov. 15

Finding Dory (OnDemand). Ellen DeGeneres' forgetful fish from Finding Nemo goes looking for her family with the help of Nemo and Marlin. 

Nov. 16

The Art of More (Crackle). A second season of this drama, starring Kate Bosworth, Dennis Quaid and Cary Elwes, peels back the curtain on the shady dealings at New York's high-end auction houses.

Nov. 17

Lovesick (Netflix). Formerly known as Scrotal Recall, this British sitcom features Johnny Flynn as Dylan, a man who must track down all his past sexual partners after learning he's contracted an STD.

Nov. 18

The Grand Tour (Amazon). Car lovers have been waiting for more than a year for this new series from former Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May as they trade the studio for the open road.

Nov. 21

Marathon: The Patriots Day Bombing (HBO Now/Go). This documentary traced the stories of a group of survivors from the day of the Boston Marathon massacre to the conviction and sentencing of bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Nov. 25

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life (Netflix). Avoiding Black Friday and your extended family like the plague? Retreat to Stars Hollow, Conn., and catch up with Lorelai (Lauren Graham), Rory (Alexis Bledel) and their friends instead in four new installments, each set in a different season of the same year.

Michael Che Matters (Netflix). The Saturday Night Live "Weekend Update" anchor gets a lot more mockery time in this stand-up special from Brooklyn.
