Police: Woman led officers on high speed chase through three counties

YORK COUNTY, S.C. -- A woman was arrested Wednesday following a high speed chase through three counties.

Police said officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on White Street in Clover around 5:00 a.m. When they approached the van, authorities said they found Katie Atkins and a man inside.

Investigators told NBC Charlotte the man got out of the van, then Atkins drove off and hit a police cruiser. Officers pursued the suspect into Gaston County, reaching speeds of 90 miles per hour.

The chase ended in Cleveland County where Atkins was taken into custody. She will face multiple charges and be extradited back to York County.
