SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Republican presidential candidate Michelle Bachmann continued campaigning in Spartanburg, S.C. Tuesday, and amid one of her speeches she made a noticeable verbal slip about one America's biggest icons.
Bachmann spoke to hundreds of supporters at the Beacon restaurant in Spartanburg, S.C. Wednesday and began her speech by wishing happy birthday to Elvis Presley.
“Happy birthday,” she screamed to the crowd. “We played you a little bit of promise land when we pulled up. You can’t do better than Elvis Presley. We thought we’d celebrate his birthday as we get started to celebrating Take Our Country back tour.”
Tuesday is not Presley’s birthday, but rather the 34th anniversary of his death.
Bachmann is scheduled to visit Charlotte Wednesday morning for a fundraising breakfast.
The price of that breakfast will be $100, but those attending are being asked to contribute $500 to the campaign.
“We are going to make Barack Obama a one-term president,” she added.
